My home river, East Folk Lewis, is now at the lowest time of the year, so it’s hard to catch fish there. But I can enjoy fishing with Tenkara gear (Japanese fly fishing), as it’s the best time to use it!! Even 8-inch trout gives a good fight with Tenkara light gear.
Tenkara is really fun under low and clear water condition. Hiking on the riverside and casting each spot quickly, I can see and feel fish bite and it feels like a big fight. Yes, I can use #3 rod and light line for fly fishing as a light gear but it’s a little bit different experience, different sense and different feeling!
Since WDFW stopped releasing hatchery trout from this year, I can fight with native fishes before releasing them. Yes, not so many fishes are in the river but whenever I can see them, it feels so good!
